ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a Finnish artist living in Helsinki, exploring painting through experimentation and concepts. I am intrigued by questions about what all sorts of things painting may be, material or form-wise, or could it be understood as an event rather than an object. Furthermore, at the core of my artistic praxis are ecological and philosophical questions of the environment and their exploration through landscape motifs. Alongside making art, I´m an extensive appreciator of nature, different cultures, and narratives of perceiving the world. Currently, I am working on my dissertation at the Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts Helsinki, on how painting is formed in social processes and in relation to the environment.
